The festival Gods have once again blessed us with another immaculate Splendour In The Grass lineup.
Splendour In The Grass will be held from the 20th to the 22nd of July at their trusty home, the North Byron Parklands. Residents of Byron Bay will be able to purchase tickets this weekend, however, other punters will have to face the mad scramble that is purchasing tickets during the pre-sale and general public sales.
This year, faithfuls flocking to the North Byron Parklands will be treated to the likes of the some of the world’s best acts in indie, hip hop and rock. The three-day festival will boast the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Vampire Weekend, Lorde, Gang Of Youths, CHVRCHES and Skegss.
Kendrick Lamar last performed in Australia at the beginning of 2016, celebrating the release of his landmark album To Pimp A Butterfly. Now, the renowned rapper will be making his way fresh off the back of his Hottest 100 win, ready to perform to hungry Aussie crowds. Lorde will make her first appearance on the festival since her iconic 2013 Frank Ocean fill in, whilst CHVRCHES will follow up from their incredible 2014 performance.
This year’s lineup comes after a slew of fake posters circulated the Internet. However, pranksters must have their fingers on the pulse as many of the predicted artists have made their way onto the final lineup.
Hometown indie rock band Skegss have also expressed their excitement to hit the stage once again, saying, “We are eager to get back on the splendour stage. It’s been 3 years since we had the chance to open the festival, and last time we played still remains as one of the funnest festival experiences we’ve had. Keen as to do it again!!!”
Last year’s festival was headlined by the likes of LCD Soundsystem, HAIM, The XX and SchoolBoy Q – it’s hard to believe they managed to top that stellar showcase of talent, but here we are. Last year we were treated to sideshows from acts like Queens Of The Stone Age and LCD Soundsystem, so expect announcements of such sideshows in the coming weeks.
