Sad news for Portland festival goers. It has been announced that the MusicfestNW Presents Project Pabst is not happening this year. According to Portland Mercury, Pabst decided to go another route. It was stated that “At the end of 2017, Pabst decided to go in a different direction, and the two festivals ended their partnership.” It did not give MusicFest NW enough time to curate their own festival, which led to it being on hiatus.
The festival originally started as a week-long festival, similar to South by Southwest, but then switched to a one-weekend festival held at Waterfront Park in August 2014 while Pabst hosted their first festival that same year at the Zidell Yards. For the past two years, Pabst and MFNW worked together to put on the festival. Previous lineups for the MFNW festival have included major acts including Iggy Pop, Die Antwoord, Beck, Ice Cube, Ween and Drive like Jehu just to name a few. Project Pabst has also had festivals across the US including Denver and Philadelphia, with acts including Phantogram, Kurt Vile, Action Bronson and The Mezzingers. Project Pabst has not released an official statement about the Portland festival.
