Janelle Monáe has kept herself busy these past few months getting ready to release her highly-anticipated third solo album. So far, the Grammy-nominated singer has shared two tracks off her new upcoming album, “Make Me Feel,” and “Django Jane.” Today, Monáe is sharing her third single along with a colorful rosy-hued music video.
“Pynk” features Grimes who Monáe previously collaborated with on “Venus Fly,” a song off Grimes’s most recent album, 2015’s Art Angels. Emma Westenberg directs the video for the new track and also features Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson who appeared in Monáe‘s “Make Me Feel” video which premiered this past February. The clip has Monáe along with her dancers in a desert setting while debuting a pair of pink vagina pants that are quite eye-grabbing.
Everything about the video is cheery and oozes girl power in every inch of the screen. The colors that spill out is sometimes overpowering, but it doesn’t matter. Let’s dive in and swim around in the pink pool of strength that is Monáe.
A few years back saw Monáe embarking on a different career path as she found herself in Hollywood as her film acting career kicked off. 2016 saw exceptional performances in both Academy-Award nominated films, Hidden Figures and Moonlight with the latter going home with the main award of the night; Best Picture.
Dirty Computer is available everywhere Friday, April 27th but fans can pre-order the album which includes downloads of “PYNK,” (featuring Grimes), “Make Me Feel,” and “Django Jane.” Scroll down below for the concept album cover for Dirty Computer as well as the visual for “PYNK.”
