Old Crow Medicine Show Releases New Song “Whirlwind” and Announces Summer 2018 Tour Dates

Old Crow Medicine Show has announced summer tour dates along with the release of “Whirlwind”. This release is a part of the band’s upcoming album Volunteer, which will be released on April 20th. This follows the performance of “Your Love Is My Drug” with Kesha and “Budweiser Country Club” SXSW 2018 party.

As mentioned by the press release, the band will be going on tour to support the release of the album. This year also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the band being together. The tour dates begin on April 20th in Nashville, Tennessee and ends on August 17th in Morrison, Colorado. The band will be travelling all over the United States. The tour dates are listed below.

According to Rolling Stone, Ketch Secor talked about “Whirlwind” saying,”When I sat down to write ‘Whirlwind,’ I thought of my friend Gill Landry’s paternal grandparents. They had just had some kind of major wedding anniversary, like 60 or 70 years. They got married when they were teenagers in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.” He continued by saying, “There’s a great power in the story of a marriage taking place amidst the great uncertainty of massive social upheaval that was happening all around with that generation,” he continues, “particularly in the rural south. And that kind of story becomes a universal one in the context of country music, because no matter what your twist or your hurricane is, you’ve gotta ride it out.”

The song has a reflective tone to it as it talks about all that has passed by with the years of being together. The song can be heard below.
