Corey Taylor Indicates He’s Put Lyrics To “Tons of New Music” Slipknot Has Recorded

Slipknot fans will be happy to know that according to frontman Corey Taylor, the group is continuing to work steadily on their upcoming sixth album.

“The guys are writing tons of music and I’ve written lyrics to almost all of it,” Taylor said. “We’re going to start trying to put together demos here and there with the time off that I have and really try to get ahead of the curve as far as what happens next.”

Taylor previously announced that the next Slipknot album would “absolutely” arrive in 2019. He’s now saying that they will try and put an album out next year, but at this point it is all speculation. According to Taylor, ” the plan right now is next year but that is a huge plan because we still haven’t narrowed anything down, so we will definitely see what happens.”

Word from the other band members like Shawn “Clown” Crahan is that so far there is an excess of written material that is shaping up to be “really dark.”

Meanwhile, Taylor, is still intensely working on projects with Stone Sour, including touring for the rest of the year, touring with Ozzy Osbourne and “some cool things that we’re doing creatively that we can’t give away too quickly.”

Stone Sour also released a new single from their latest album, Hydrograd,”St. Marie.” “St. Marie” is group-written track that is a departure from the group’s typical sound that exhibits what Taylor calls their “country side. A southwestern road trip-esque video was released alongside the song to further supplement the group’s new direction.
