The Vivid Sydney festival is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting festivals in the world this year, with a reunited Mazzy Star along with headliners such as Solange, Ice Cube, and Dreams. Well, the festival has turned it up another notch as it has been announced that Cat Power will be performing her seminal 1998 record Moon Pix at Vivid Sydney. Additionally, she will be reuniting with collaborators Mick Turner and Jim White, two Australian musicians who played on the album. The three have never shared the stage together before, which is sure to make the performance one of the most anticipated of the entire festival.
Recorded over the course of eleven days in Melbourne, Moon Pix became one of the most influential indie rock albums of the 90’s, with its innovative blend of poetic lyrics, winding guitar lines, and strong vocals setting the template for many groups to follow. Some of these songs, such as the iconic “Cross Bones Style” have not been played in twenty years, with a couple of tracks having never been performed live before
The Vivid Sydney festival will take place from May 25th to June 16th.
IM SO EXCITED TO RETURN TO SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE TO PERFORM MOON PIX FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! With old friends Mick Turner & Jim White & a string section arranged by Ned Colette! I love you Australia! Thank you Vivid… https://t.co/BViTFdgd1p
