April 1st aka Fox Day, aka Easter, aka April Fools Day had a lot going on in a celebratory kind of way. It was also the day that Japanese pop-metal sensation Babymetal shared a cryptic video to commemorate the start of “Metal Resistance Episode VII.” The video posted today had nothing visual to showcase anything, all it had was text moving along in a Star Wars fashion coming in and out of the screen to music.
According to the clip, “a new era is about to begin,” with a voiceover saying: “Light and darkness. Both are considered to be opposites, but at the same time, one cannot exist without the other. Until now, we have only experienced the light side — the legend of three metal spirits. An unknown dark side also exists. A legend of seven metal spirits — The Chosen Seven. A new era is about to begin.”
No matter what the video means, something is coming, and for fans of Babymetal, it is probably something amazing.
The video wasn’t the only thing that the trio shared today. Babymetal has also announced that two concerts from December 2-3, 2007 at Hiroshima’s Green Arena will be released on a new Blu-Ray titled “Legend S – Baptism XX.” Though, the blu-ray will only be available for those who members of the band’s fan club, The One. The limited-edition set will feature 16 songs, a live CD, and a booklet.
During the performances at the Hiroshima, Babymetal played without one of their members. Yui Mizuno aka Yuimetal wasn’t feeling right, and her doctors suggested not to perform alongside her bandmates on stage.
Babymetal consists of Suzuka Nakamoto (a.k.a. Su-Metal, who handles vocals and dancing), Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi (a.k.a. Moametal). They were established in 2010 and bring something new to the headbanging club filled with mostly men.
