Lorde offered a very special performance to fans at her concert on March 27th, when she launched into an impromptu tribute of sorts to Chicago native, rapper Kanye West.
Putting her own distinctive spin on the songs, Lorde performed one of West’s biggest hits ‘Love Lockdown’ acapella. She then included a nod to West during her song “Liability,” incorporating lyrics from his 2010 single “Runaway,” into the song. She went on to say, “Thanks Chicago! It must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West.”
Lorde has expressed her admiration for West’s music before, she first covered “Runaway” at the 2017 Coachella Festival, and she performed”Hold My Liquor” from Yeezus ,during a 2013 show in her native New Zealand.
Lorde released her second LP, Melodrama, in June 2017. The record received an Album of the Year nomination at the 2018 Grammy Awards, the singer’s fifth.
