The late Mark Linkous will be remembered forever for a rich library of memorable songs and contributions to the indie rock community, particularly with his successful band Sparklehorse. His friends PJ Harvey and John Parish are assuring his legacy lives on forever by creating yet another collaboration between the two acclaimed songwriters. They have teamed up and recently shared a new song to those who already know and to introduce a new crew of fans to Linkous and his memory.
Harvey and Parish have previously worked together on joint albums such as Dance Hall at Louse Point and A Woman A Man Walked By, and Parish co-produced Harvey’s last two full length records, most recently The Hope Six Demolition Project in 2016. Harvey has now worked with Parish on his new solo album Big Dog Dante specifically on the song “Sorry For Your Loss,” which is a tribute to their friend and former collaborator Linkous.
Linkous is adored by many in the music world and his songs had a way of speaking to their souls. Despite taking his own life in 2010, he will be remembered for turning gripping emotions and dark realities into beautiful music such as the 2001 release It’s a Wonderful Life, which featured PJ Harvey and John Parish.
Big Dog Dante will be Parish’s sixth studio album and the follow up to 2013s Screenplay. Harvey has not released an album since The Hope Six Demolition Project but did release a song for the Dark River Watch soundtrack, the song was a rendition of the English folk tune “An Acre of Land.” Big Dog Dante is set to be released on June 15 for Parish and the tribute to Linkous will serve as the lead single.
