Fans of the virtually artistic band Gorillaz can start a party, as rumors of a new album are getting closer to being a reality by the day. Recently in Lollapalooza Chile, the band performed the song “Hollywood” live in front an audience after mentioning it numerous times on social media and rehearsing it, but this being the first time in front of a crowd.
The song is an ode to the illustrious city we all know and it followed another track called “Idaho,” which the band has unveiled live for fans on a few occasions. If these new songs are an indication that the band are preparing for a new album, it would be a glorious follow-up to their last record Humanz in 2017. It was their first record in seven years after releasing The Fall in 2010.
“Hollywood” features everyone’s favorite football coach and rapper Snoop Dogg, but the infamous artist was not in Chile for the performance. Started by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz are best known for their debut album Gorillaz, which sold over seven million copies worldwide along with being a smash with critics. Albarn is also known for being the lead singer of the popular 90’s band Blur. Hewlett told Billboard that he and Albarn have been working on getting a new album out sometime in 2018. The band can be seen again live this August in Budapest, Hungary at the Sziget Festival . See the band performing “Hollywood” in Chile below.
