Ultra Music Festival concluded Sunday night with a performance by music supergroup Swedish House Mafia. To celebrate the festival’s 20th year, the supergroup came together for their first performance in five years. The trio, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso came out on the festival’s main stage a little after 10:00 p.m. Their set was 50-minutes of the band reunited by performing some of their popular tracks included “Miami 2 Ibiza,” “Save the World,” “Greyhound,” and “One.”
Sunday night’s performance took place almost five years to the day of Swedish House Mafias farewell performance. This last show also took place on the Ultra Music Festival’s stage. Angello stated that the group had come to the conclusion of taking a permanent hiatus “as we reached a point where we didn’t know what the next move would be.” Although it is unclear what the future holds for the band, this may just be a one night performance. According to Axwell, “this raw, it’s for life,” which he exclaimed during Sunday’s set.
The group acknowledged the performance later on Facebook. In a post they simply stated “It was time.”
Swedish House Mafia have a live album and DVD coming out on April 15. The film, by Christian Larsen, is titled Leave The World Behind while the album is One Last Tour: A Live Soundtrack. The music was recorded live at Masquerade Motel in Los Angeles, CA
