Metal fans have already had quite the year so far, with a plethora of legendary bands releasing new albums or entering the studio to record, and now you can add another as High on Fire have completed a new album. The trio has become known for their pummeling blend of black, sludge, and stoner metal, and this new recording promises to be one of their best yet.
Once again, the band teamed up producer and Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, the same setup as their previous two records. Ballou has become known in metal circles for his stunning production work, not only with Converge but also the likes of Darkest Hour and Nails.
Formed out of the ashes of legendary stoner metal band Sleep, High on Fire have developed a reputation as one of the fiercest metal bands around, with frontman Matt Pike developing a dark and brutal vocal delivery to compliment his sludgy guitar riffs.
Now that Sleep is back to full activity Pike will be busy this year, as they have just announced a series of tour dates and have been rumored to be in the process on working on their own new material.
High on Fire last released an album in the form of 2015’s Luminiferous.
The band will be performing as part of the Psycho Las Vegas Festival this year.
