Uni is an up-and-coming pyschadelic rock band based out of New York City and they’re gearing up for a release of a five-song 10″ record in July. The band, which consists of Kemp Muhl on bass and vocals, David Strange on guitar and Nico Fuzz on vocals and guitar recently released a trippy new video for their song “DDT,” which you can check out below.
If the name Kemp Muhl sounds familiar, it’s probably because it is. She is Sean Lennon’s girlfriend as well as a member of his band. To top it all off, she’s a model too. She adds another feather to her cap as the director of this video clip, which sees the band performing amid an array of dazzling color displays and vivid backdrops. Joining them on the screen is a scantily clad woman, twisting and gyrating along with the fuzzed out psych rock.
The band left the following statement in the info section of the video:
“Science teachers are feeding puppies to snapping turtles. Kim Jong discovered an ancient unicorn lair. Fake news is reality. Vietnam is just a distant dream, as still active landmines slowly corrode in the tall grass and wait for a tourist to wander across their trigger, like generation Z waits for an event to give purpose to their benumbed existence. Our parents watched the moon landing, we watched Britney Spears shave her head. No one is a virgin anymore… long live the webcam!”
mxdwn recently had the chance to speak with the band when they were in Los Angeles on tour. They also were in Austin last week for SXSW festival, where they played at the Levitation Festival showcase at Hotel Vegas Annex on March 15.
The band previously released videos for their songs “Mushroom Cloud” and “Adult Video” and last year for “What’s the Problem.” In addition to the videos, the band is releasing the songs on 7″ via Chimera Music.
