English singer and songwriter Liam Gallagher announces North American tour with English singer and songwriter Richard Ashcroft. The joint tour begins on Thursday, May 10th in San Francisco, CA and ends on Saturday, May 18th in Washington, DC. The final date, Friday, June 29th in London, UK is a solo performance by Gallagher.
Gallagher was the lead singer for rock band Oasis before the band broke up in 2009. After the break up of Oasis Gallagher was the lead vocalist for Beady Eye before the band broke up in 2014. Gallagher pursued a solo career after the split of both bands. The solo career of Gallagher began with small performances before the release of his solo debut album As You Were in March 2017. In the first week of sales the album debuted at number one in the UK and outsold the rest of the albums on the UK top ten 10 charts. In February 2018 Gallagher performed at the 2018 Brit Awards in tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena attack. Gallagher’s world tour begins on March 21st in Sao Paolo, Brazil and continues until September 9th in Berlin, Germany.
The Verve had Ashcroft as lead vocals and occasionally rhythm guitar from when the band was formed in 1990 until their first split in 1999. After the band split in 1999 Ashcroft became a solo artist and released three solo albums, Alone With Everybody in June 2000, Human Conditions in 20002, Keys to the World on January 23rd, 2006 and These People in May 2016. In April 2016 when Ashcroft announced the release his most recent solo album These People fans were excited as they had anticipated a new album from the English singer for several years. These People was produced by Harvest Records and included the single “Hold On” which premiered on BBC Radio 2 the day that the new album was announced to be released that May.
