In a seemingly no-brainer of a collaboration, Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty have been partnering with the rap industry recently, as their appearance for Run the Jewels’ video “Oh Mama” from their record RTJ3, marks their second just this month. Last week, they were featured in the video for the opening track to Logic’s newest mixtape, Bobby Tarantino II.
Traveling around space, the cartoon duo reference various Quentin Tarantino projects along the way (there seems to be a theme here). Visiting a Mos Eisley-like Star Wars Cantina scene, the two have Pulp Fiction briefcase that sets them off on an adventure that brings them to fighting aliens and acquiring what can only be presumed as “the jewels.” As Paste reports, the Adult Swim cartoon and Run the Jewels have even collaborated in the past with a “Rick the Jewels” cross-platform sweatshirt.
The release of the video for “Oh Mama” is accompanied with the announcement that Run the Jewels will be headlining the Adult Swim Festival in LA on Oct. 6-7th. Other acts have yet to be announced. Run the Jewels have also recently created their own craft beers, been Grammy-nominated for their contribution to the film Baby Driver, and released a new collaboration with their fellow artist and producer Boots called “Delete Delete.” Watch the Rick & Morty assisted video for “Oh Mama” below:
