Despite Trent Reznor and Atticus Rose composing scores for four films in the past three years, they’ve somehow also had time to record three Nine Inch Nails records. Not the Actual Events, their first EP together, was released back in December 2016. Reznor later announced that Not the Actual Events was part of trilogy of EP’s, and detailed a release schedule, which the band has since deviated from. The packaging for Not the Actual Events also included some translucent projector sheets and an incredibly messy charcoal powder, but the band picked up with a sharp turn from the previous EP with the second of the project, Add Violence.
Reznor is now ready to update everyone on the status of the third and final EP of the trilogy, as The PRP reports that the third EP is expected to be released by the end of June 2018. Speaking on BBC Radio 6, Reznor explained that:
“We started out with a rigid concept, having not written them all. As we finished Add Violence we found ourselves… it felt too predictable. It felt like we were forcing things. Musically and storytelling-wise. The reason this has been delayed is because it took us a while for—what has become the third EP—to reveal itself to us.”
Nine Inch Nails are set to start a big Summer tour on June 22nd, and Reznor is prepping the EP to be released just before the tour kicks off. They’ve also added a date to the tour, as they’re now scheduled to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England on June 24th with Black Moth Super Rainbow.
