“The Chi” SXSW 2018 Day Party and Showcase @ The Showtime House Announced

Showtime is bringing South Side to South By in honor of their new original series, The Chi, with a full day of Chicago-centric music, food, fashion and art. Making up Day Two of the three-day “Showtime House,” The Chi event includes a daytime party starting at 1pm on Friday, March 16th that’s open to RSVPs (although SXSW badges get priority), followed by an official SXSW showcase starting at 8pm that’s open to badges and wristbands (Platinum and Music badges first, Film and Interactive badges, and Music Fest wristbands second).

Besides rocking out to the party’s killer lineup – which is stacked during the day with Chicago artists Melo Makes Music, Air Credits, Knox Fortune and Joey Purp, plus rap/hip-hop/soul heavy hitters for their nighttime showcase Leikeli47, Kweku Collins, Lee Fields & The Expressions and Darryl DMC McDaniels from the legendary Run-DMC – we’ll be gettin’ our grub on with food from Chicago mainstay Harold’s Chicken Shack, checking out the event’s custom sneaker gallery and soaking up some artistic culture with the featured Chicago graffiti wall.

1pm-12am, Friday, March 16th, Clive Bar, 609 Davis St, Austin, TX 78701

With their newest EP dropping earlier this month, we’re definitely pumped to hear what Air Credits has been up to lately, plus the always-great Joey Purp is never disappointment! And hot off the heels of his 2017 debut album, we’re super stoked to see another one of Chance the Rapper’s cronies, Knox Fortune, take center stage.

If you’re one of those lucky souls with a SXSW credential, sticking around for the sure-to-be epic DJ set from DMC of the one, the only, Run-DMC, is a no-brainer. Plus catching sonic stylings of female rapper Leikeli47 – who also released her debut album this past year – and other artists featured in The Chi? Sounds like a win-win to us!

Snag your RSVP here, and as this is sure to be an at-capacity party, do yourself a favor and get there early the day of. The event is also 21+, so don’t forget that ID!
