Dylan Carlson Announces New Album Conquistador for April 2017 Release

After years of releasing doom-and-gloom metal as a member of Earth, and folk-influenced solo fare under the moniker drcarlsonalbion, Dylan Carlson will finally release his first solo work under his own name.

The LP is titled Conquistador, and is said to be partly inspired by American novelist  Cormac McCarthy’s book Blood Meridian, novel that inspects the horrors white settlers visit on the native population. Carlson’s wife Holly models for the album’s cover, in what vaguely looks like native wear.

According to Stereogum, regarding his album, “I guess what ties this all together—all my musical projects and my life in general—is the idea of the quest, that search for new horizons and something unnamable and possibly unreachable…”

Conquistador is out April 27th  via Sargent House. The lead single “Scorpions In Their Mouths” and the tracklist can be found below.

Tracklist:
1. Conquistador
2. When The Horses Were Shorn Of Their Hooves
3. And then the Crows Descended
4. Scorpions in their Mouths
5. Reaching the Gulf
