Theresa Wayman, may be best known as guitarist and vocalist of rock quartet Warpaint, but she will also soon be known as a solo artist — as her personal project TT releases today, featuring the single “Love Leaks.” TT is a precursor to the full upcoming album Lovelaws.
Wayman recorded the music for LoveLaws in between Warpaint tours and carrying out life as a single mother. She plays the majority of instruments on the record—guitar, bass and synth plus, programs the drum beats herself.
In the process of recording the album, she cites Björk and trip hop as major influences and chose an unconventional approach to writing the lyrics to her songs. For years, she wrote stream of consciousness and tended to forego revising music or lyrics in the pursuit of a raw, intimate sound. The album is about Wayman examining her romantic ups and downs.
Lovelaws is set to release on May 18th. The tracklisting for TT can be seen below.
