The 26th annual Rockfest is set to take place on June 2nd, 2018 in Kansas City, for a whole day of rock and metal acts, marking the second year the festival will be held at the Kansas Speedway. “Driven by the overwhelming positive feedback from the listeners of 98.9 The Rock, we are very excited to bring Rockfest back to Kansas Speedway for a second year!” announced Bob Edwards, executive producer of Rockfest, to Fox 4 News. “This year’s line-up reflects the best of what rock has to offer. Our fans will see some of the biggest bands in rock.”
Headlined by Five Finger Death Punch, the festival will also see sets from Ghost, Stone Temple Pilots, Vince Neil, Sevendust, Underoath, I Prevail, Of Mice & Men, 10 Years, Red Sun Rising, Butcher Babies, Miss May I, Powerman 5000, Shaman’s Harvest, Bad Wolves, and Hyborian. Along with the musical acts, Rockfest will also feature “ziplines, interactive displays, pick up lifestyle gear and tons more,” according to 98.9 The Rock‘s website.
Five Finger Death Punch were in the news recently, with Vladimir Putin’s “Point Man on the East Ukraine Conflict” using the band’s lyrics in an op-ed that condemns American hypocrisy. “Well…. let me just say…. It’s especially interesting that we just happened to be in Russia at the moment,” the band wrote on their Facebook page, “We had a fantastic show at the Stadium in Moscow yesterday… The energy of the crowd was incredible… I can tell you…. between the people … there is NO hate… there is NO cold war here… so let’s NOT make one.” Stone Temple Pilots are currently touring as well with new vocalist Jeff Gunt, whom Erik Krentz says is “a very natural fit,” and Ghost are touring as well throughout May.
