Weird Al Yankovic Releases Latest Parody Song “The Hamilton Polka”

Weird Al Yankovic has released a parody song called “The Hamilton Polka”. This follows a highlight another season of Incredible Squidbillies theme song covers, releases “Beat On The Brat”, and performed at the Hollywood Bowl. This is the latest of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamildrops” series.

Yankovic and Miranda have had a mutual admiration for each other’s work, as reported by Rolling Stone, Yankovic has told Conan in October of last year “I think he’s the most brilliant person in the world”. He continues by saying “He’s been a fan since he was a young kid. He told me a story about how one time I played the Beacon Theatre in New York in 1985, he was like 10 years old or something, and I do ‘Yoda’ as an encore every night, and Lin said he was in the balcony screaming ‘Play Yoda, play Yoda!’ And then I came out and played ‘Yoda’ and he was like ‘I made that happen!’ It changed his life. And then he wrote ‘Hamilton.’ You’re welcome.”

According to the press release, the new song features a classic twist on 14 songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s iconic broadway show by the artist. These songs include “My Shot”, “Wait For It”, “The Schuyler Sisters”, “Alexander Hamilton” and “The Room Where It Happens”.

The mixture has a sped up hyped version to the songs that it includes, fitting the three hours of the broadway show into a five minute song. The song can be listened to below.
