Gorgon City has released a song “Motorola”. This follows the album release Sirens.
Gorgon City is a electronic music duo consisting of Matt Gibbon and Kye Robson-Scott. This duo is well known for their 2014 single “Ready For Your Love”. Currently they have one studio album Sirens out, but are working on Kingdom: Part 1 and Kingdom: Part 2.
According to the press release, following the Duke Dumont collaboration “Real Life,” and Realm releases “Primal Call” and “Grooves on the Vinyl”, the duo had adopt old school ringtone samples and mobile phone sounds on “Motorola”. Along with the samples of ringtones and other phone sounds, there was a deep rumbling bassline added to the mix to create the 90’s nostalgia.
The song begins with the “Motorola” having a full battery. As the video flashes with many special effects of messages and callings, the phone sounds and bits of synth mix together to create a hyped song. With its many repetitions and echos, the song creates a catchy tune. The song then fades out as the “Motorola’s” battery dies. The song can be listened to below.
