On February 19th, Queens of The Stone Age were joined on stage by musician/produced Mark Ronson for an unusual cover of Elton John’s classic Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, reports the prp. The rock band is currently on tour to promote their latest record Villains, which came out in 2017. The record was a fruitful first-time collaboration between the band and Mark Ronson, world renowned producer whose roster of collaborations ranges from Adele, Amy Winehouse and Paul McCartney to Sean Paul, Duran Duran and Rufus Wainwright. Ronson is also quite famous for singing on and producing Bruno Mars’ hit Uptown Funk.
Queens Of The Stone Age has recently added a whole bunch of dates to their Villains World Tour, which is going to stretch until May 25th in Rochester, NY. Ronson, however, joined the band on keys at The Forum in Inglewood, CA on February 19th, during the encore for a cover song, no one was probably expecting to be performed.
According to Rolling Stone, the band will have a few openers, namely Royal Blood (May 17-25), Wolf Alice (April 24- May 2), Ty Segall for their San Francisco show on February 1st and Eagles Of Death Metal (January 22-30), a project created by singer Josh Homme and long-time friend Jesse Hughes.
Homme, however, has been the protagonist of an unpleasant event lately, which caused repercussions in the media and within the band. During their set at KROQ Acoustic Christmas, Homme kicked Shutterstock photographer Chelsea Lauren while she was shooting pictures of their performance. The singer and guitarist kicked her camera, which slammed on Lauren’s face causing her to fall on the ground and ultimately spend the night at the ER.
While Homme repeatedly apologized to Lauren on a series of Instagram videos, the photographer revealed she would file a report to police nevertheless, but it is still not clear if she actually pressed any charges or not, according to Rolling Stone.
