Red Wing Music Festival has announced the lineup for its 2018 edition. It will feature Trampled By Turtles, Josh Ritter, I’m with Her and Scott Miller and will be hosted by The Street Wheels. The event will take place at Mt Solon, VA on July 13, 14 and 15, according to the official website.
Past headliners include notorious acts like Dawes, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Shovels & Rope and The Lone Bellow as well as minor and local acts like The Judy Chops, Lake Street Dive, Mandolin Orange and The Cactus Blossom.
As Pensacola News Journal has reported last year, the organizers pride themselves for keeping the festival small and as family-friendly as possible while keeping on eye on sustainability and community, by raising “thousands of dollars each year for local charities through on-site raffles and auctions”.
This year’s edition will see Trampled By Turtles come back from their hiatus, started in 2016. The band, however, reunited in the fall of 2017, says savingcountrymusic.com. The band will release their first record in four years titled Life Is Good On The Open Road on May 4th and revealed their intention to start touring again.
Prior to the release, the group has made available a song called Kelly’s Bar, written about a “hangout” in Red Wing, Minnesota frontman Dave Simmonet used to visit. Simmonet also said that taking a break was a good decision, but after a while all members started to miss making music with each other, which led them to reunite, for the joy of their fans.
