On February 19th, British band Pale Waves release “Heavenly”, final track of their debut EP All The Things I Never Said, out digitally now. Other tracks on the EP include “New Years Eve”, “Tide” and ”My Obsession”.
Pales Waves is praised to be one of the most promising and talented bands of the last few years in England. Formed in 2014 as a two piece, by singer Heather Baron-Gracie and drummer Ciara Doran, the band updated the lineup with guitarist Hugo Silvani and bassist Charlie Wood and signed to Dirty Hit in 2016, NME reports.
The band seems to have very high expectation for the new record. Indeed, asked by NME they revealed their hope for it to be number one by saying that “you can’t not aim for number one”. When asked about their waited full-length album, they replied it will still follow the musical path started with the EP, only it will represent a “Pale Waves world”.
The group will embark on a almost-sold out tour around the UK for the next couple of month and it will make an appearance at Leeds and Reading Festival, both of which were highly criticized on the internet because of their stronger-than-usual leaning towards pop and hip hop acts.
The record, which represents the band’s first official release, was, however, anticipated by a long stream of singles in 2017 such as There’s A Honey and Television Romance. The band has also already headlined a North American tour last November, as mxdwn reported. Their first LP is said to be released during the summer via 1975’s label Dirty Hit, said mxdwn.
UPDATE (3/19): Pale Waves have released a video to accompany their single “Heavenly.” The clip takes a simple approach with close-ups of singer Heather Baron-Gracie wearing some striking eye-shadow. She’s also bizarrely tied up in what looks like an expansive doorway. If anything, she certainly looks the part of the rock star status she and her band appear destined to achieve. The band released their debut EP this month to rave reviews, including here at mxdwn where we designated the short record as one of the best of the year.
