On February 16th, a virtual stage invasion took place on the official Vans Warped Tour twitter account. While the time to reveal the lineup for their final touring festival is fast approaching, the Warped Tour twitter account has been bombarded by a command of both band members and fans, aggravated by the constant uncertainty in regards to which bands are going to take the stage.
Fans are asking specifically if some of the bands the are craving to see reunited, are going to join forces for the occasion. One particular fan cried out his dissatisfaction by shouting out how badly he would like the festival to be about giving “US ORIGINAL MILLENNIALS SOMETHING” (the all-caps couldn’t be stressed enough here). His complaint relied on the argument that the festival should be about the comeback of notorious pop-punk bands such as Blink-182, Paramore, My Chemical Romance and Say Anything. None of which are officially schedule to appear, thus far.
@VansWarpedTour final tour should be a throwback tour of blink 182, All American rejects, Paramore, Yellowcard (I know they came back a few years ago,but they killed it) and maybe My chemical romance and Say Anything. GIVE US ORIGINAL MILLENNIALS SOMETHING.

The festival, however, tried to give a response to alleviate the fan’s outburst. Their explanation as to why none of those bands would appear among the performers could be summarized by underlining the fact that despite endeavors to reach out to them, some of the bands mentioned either won’t reunite or didn’t agree to take part of the show. Simple, yet blunt.
.@blink182 we have the same agent & yet nothing a href=”https://twitter.com/therejects?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>@therejects we tried, a band member didn’t want to do it@paramore word on the street is they’re doing their own tour@Yellowcard is no longer a band@MCRofficial not reuniting @SayAnythingMuz we’ll look into it! https://t.co/f7zMxDnNkP

how? We’ve had to watch for YEARS of fans saying we suck, we can’t book a lineup, we’re idiots. We stayed silent let people trash us but squashing rumors about bands no playing the tour is unprofessional?

Such response triggered the reaction of some of the band members, such as All-American Rejects' Tyson Ritter, who cared to clarify the fact that the band actually agreed to play selected dates, but the festival ultimately refused to book them.
pretty sure this isn't how it went down…pretty sure we were down with y'all paying a few shows…pretty sure we were told 3/4 band members were into it by your agent. we were trying to troll and squash rumors with this tweet, didn't mean to start a shit throwing fest

Moreover, many tweets were actually deleted and, according to theprp, Kelen Capener, from The Story So Far, took issue with the fact that the festival did in fact hint at hypothetical appearances and participations of bands and acts that were later on left high and dry. The Tour’s response, however, was certainly not a light one. After pointing out the fact that the lineup was countless times leaked by insider information, they went on to resurface how the band “posted weed during an IG takeover on our account when we specifically asked not to”.
shall we start to count the times our lineup was leaked from insider information ….and this coming from the band that posted weed during an IG takeover on our account when we specifically asked not to

we wish we could take credit for this as a marketing ploy; literally DID NOT expect this to blow up just thought “we might want to manage expectations now that we are getting super close to the lineup announce”
