Trampled By Turtles, one of Minnesota’s beloved bluegrass bands is coming back after a hiatus of over a year with not only a new album announcement but plans of going back on the road once again. The Minnesota sextet revealed today the release date of their long-awaited new album Life Is Good On The Open Road. Hardcore fans have been waiting, patiently waiting for what appeared to be a long hiatus are not getting what they so rightfully deserve; a new album, the band’s first in four years. It will consist of 12 brand new tracks that feature the band’s signature blend of rock, folk, punk, country and their brand of progressive bluegrass.

The acoustic band scaled back their tour dates in 2016 but had stopped cold turkey in 2017. Though, the members of Trampled By Turtles, which include Dave Simonett, Erik Berry, Ryan Young, Dave Carroll, Tim Saxhaug and Eamonn McLain, didn’t remain out of the light for long. Simonett and bassist Tim Saxhaug toured with their electric band Dead Man Winter while other members made time with a variety of projects. But hardcore fans never doubted their favorites to remain quiet.

The new songs that appear on Life Is Good On The Open Road touch on key elements that make up the entire spectrum of Trampled By Turtles body of work while bringing something that sounds fresh and new. The band members reunited in a cabin in the Minnesota woods to discover the magic of making music together, to see if the chemistry that they once shared still existed. And they were right. The new record, Life Is Good on the Open Road, is due out May 4 but today, the band has shared a snippet of what’s to come with a brand new single. “Kelly’s Bar” is the album’s opening track is named after a hangout in Red Wing where Simonett frequented when he lived.
