Sadly, it appears that Peter Murphy, known for his solo work and for his time as the frontman of the legendary goth rock band Bauhaus, has been forced to cancel his residency at The Chapel in San Francisco, as reported by SF Gate. Murphy had issues with obtaining a visa to enter the country, and thus he has been forced to cancel what was supposed to be a career spanning 16-day residency.
This is the second time Murphy has had to cancel the residency as last year he was diagnosed with nodes on his vocal chords, which prevented him from performing, causing the dates to be rescheduled to January and February of this year. Murphy is now looking to reschedule the residency to June 26 through July 15 of this year, one year after the original shows were supposed to happen. All tickets purchased for the canceled shows will be honored. The residency was intended as a way for Murphy to perform all of his solo work as well as special nights focused solely on Bauhaus material.
However, due to this cancellation, The Chapel reached out to the legendary Mike Patton and DJ QBert to cover some of the vacant dates, resulting in an eye-popping set of shows over the weekend. It was the first time the two had collaborated. Patton, known for his wild and varied vocal stylings, and QBert, known for his mastery of turntabling, rocked the venue and there was so much demand that a second night ended up being added.
