Lights released a new music video for her single “We Were Here”. Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux, who directed the “We Were Here” music video, has created a visual masterpiece. He has collaborated with Lights on all the Skin & Earth music videos such as Skydiving, Savage, Giants, and New Fears. Beau Bokan, Lights’ real-life husband is also featured in this video as Lights’ love interest.

In an interview about ‘We Were Here’ she said: “From the minute I wrote ‘We Were Here’ I couldn’t wait to draw that part of the comic,” She continued: “And from the minute I drew that chapter, I couldn’t wait to make the video. This is a song about owning the time we have on earth, and the video captures that whole vibe perfectly.”

The alt-pop artist, Valerie Anne Poxleitner, also known by her stage name, Lights, is a Canadian singer, and songwriter. She has received many awards including 2009 Juno Award for New Artist of the Year. She has released four albums, The Listening (2009), Siberia (2011), Little Machines (2014), and Skin & Earth (2017). Both of her first two studio albums The Listening and Siberia, have achieved Gold certification.

Her latest album Skin & Earth marks her most imaginative project. Incorporating comic book and music, she has created a comic book with the same title, along with her album in July 2017. The comic book is about Enaia Jin, a girl who’s looking for a flicker of hope in a dark post-apocalyptic world. Lights explains that Enaia “becomes entangled with a dark spiritual friend who in turn becomes much more connected to the world around her than she ever thought and sets her on a journey that could change the course of everything.”
