Wye Oak, the indie rock group from Baltimore, know a thing or two about releasing albums. The duo, composed of Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack have been consistent, releasing one every two years. Despite the gap between their 2011’s Civilian and 2014’s Shriek, then again, we all have faults. Wye Oak’s last album, Tween, graced our lives back in 2016, fans can expect something on the horizon.
Fans won’t have to wait long. Wye Oak have announced today that their fifth album, The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs will come out early April. Along with the news of the release date for the album, the band has shared the title track.
For the album, Wasner and Stack flew to each other’s cities (Durham, North Carolina for Jenn and Marfa, Texas for Andy) for a week at a time in order to combine their song ideas. They bunkered down in their home studios exchanging their sketches for the album. The result? Bigger and bolder music. For a sneak peak of the album, scroll down and listen to the title track.
The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs is set to come out worldwide on April 6th. Fans can pre-order their copy today on both CD and “sand & sky” (opaque beige & translucent blue) Peak Vinyl in the Merge store with the option to buy the exclusive t-shirt bundle. Fans can also be able to pre-order the album through these participating independent record shops or from these digital providers.
To support today’s The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs album announcement, Wye Oak has added a slew of new tour dates. These new dates go on top of their already planned unique orchestral collaboration at NYC’s Symphony Space next month and their appearance at Iowa City’s Mission Creek Festival which begins on the day the album is released. Tickets for these dates will go on sale Friday at noon.
