St. Vincent Posts Video Covering Sleater Kinney’s “Modern Girl” Before a Show

Fans of St. Vincent got a little surprise today when the singer-songwriter posted a new video of her performing an acoustic cover of  Sleater-Kinney’s “Modern Girl.” Annie Clark, who goes by her stage name St Vincent covered the song on a pre-show video that she posted to Instagram earlier today.

Below the video was a captain by Annie Clark herself who said, “Pre-show Sleater-Kinney warm up. Such a great song!” The song comes from Sleater-Kinney’s 2005 album The Woods. Though the clip posted is a little fuzzy, the rendition of “Modern Girl” is pretty damn good. It is an intimate video just Clark with her guitar, but it sure feels magical listening to it up close and personal.

For those who didn’t find themselves signing in on their social media accounts today, can scroll down below for St. Vincent’s Instagram post and video.

St. Vincent is currently on the road with her “Fear The Future” tour in support of her critically acclaimed album, Masseduction, which premiered last year.

Before releasing her latest album, Masseduction back on October 13, 2017, Annie Clark and Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein (you may also know her as one half of the Portlandia cast) collaborated on series of surreal vignettes to promote the album. Recently, Brownstein shared that Sleater-Kinney is “very slowly” working on a follow up to their 2015 record, No Cities to Love. She is currently wrapping up the final season of Portlandia and her 2015 memoir, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, is now being adapted into a TV show.
