Hot Snakes Announce First New Album in 14 Years Jericho Sirens for March 2018 Release

Hot Snakes have announced the working of a upcoming studio album Jericho Sirens for release on March 16th, following the 14 years of hiatus after the release of the studio album Audit in Progress.  The band has also released the song “Six Wave Hold-Down”. This follow’s the band playing new songs at Bell House, and short video from “Why Don’t It Sink In?”

According to the press release, the album was produced and recorded throughout 2017 in Philadelphia and San Francisco. The album will be available through different formats: Standard LP on clear vinyl, The limited Loser edition LP on black vinyl, CD, Cassette, and Digital. The production involved long time members Gar Wood, Jason Kourkounis and Mario Rubalcaba along with Rick Froberg and John Reis. Reis had positive remarks about the formed partnership between him and Froberg saying “Our perspectives are similar. Our tastes are similar. He is my family. And what more is there to say? My favorite part of making this record was hearing him find his voice and direction for this record. I came hard.” The album artwork and tracklist are listed below.

Reis had released a statement saying “I considered stopping playing guitar on a social media poll after I completely mastered the instrument. But so many people kept sending me letters and voicemail messages, asking me at the dry cleaners, or the butcher shop to bring back Hot Snakes. They were missing rock and roll music. I’ve always considered Hot Snakes to be more in the vein of the proto-Vog movement of the early ‘70s. But to these people, this is their rock ‘n’ roll. I understand that. I totally understand people’s desire to be controlled and humiliated by my guitar. Anyone can play the stupid guitar. What they want is for me to use it as a branding iron.”

The repetitive set of song beats becomes elevated in volume with the introduction of the vocals. The song can be listened to below.
