Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins Form August Greene and Announce Debut Self-Titled Album as a March 2018 Amazon Original

Common, who has a Grammy, Oscar and Emmy and has released Black America Again, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins have joined together to form August Greene and will be releasing a self titled album on March 9th. The album will be available to purchase digitally on Amazon Music and to stream on both Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music.

According to the press release “August Greene actually formed before we chose a name, before we even knew it was a band,” says Common. “Karriem, Rob and I go back many years. It was something natural. When I started working with them it was like, ‘man, this feels like home,’ and it felt new and fresh. We love working together. The music takes us all to new places and it just feels like, everything I want to be as a musician is within the group of August Greene.” The group is found on the base of a R&B, jazz, hip-hop hybrid. The group will make their debut live at New York City’s Highline Ballroom on January 26th.There have been no further details on the album yet but there was a song release, but the album artwork has been released for the single. This is shown below.

The group has released their first single “Optimism” featuring Brandy. The song features quick drum beats, slow piano, and a harmonic choir as the song fades out. The song can be listened to below.
