Genesis Breyer P-Orridge is an English singer-songwriter, musician, poet and performing artist. A Jack/ie of all trades, Gen fronted the industrial band Throbbing Gristle, P-Orridge was a founding member of Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth occult group and fronted the experimental band Psychic TV. Last year, the artist was diagnosed with Leukemia and causing them to cancel a string of Psychic TV tour dates. It was a devastating blow to fans everywhere.
The work of Gen will be brought together in a compilation from the label, Unknown Pleasures. It will feature contemporary artists to cover, remake and reinterpret classic tracks that made an impact in the music world. One of the covers featured in the compilation is from electronic and performing artist known as Peaches. Today, the artist shared her cover of Throbbing Gristle song “Convincing People.” Although it doesn’t have the same impact as the original, Peaches take is respectful and worth a listen.
Vol 1 of the compilation contains contributions from artists like Peaches, Esplendor Geometrico, Norma Loy, Le Chocolat Noir, The Horrorist and much more. Vol. 11 will include Alexey Volkov, Endless Chasms and a whole lot more. It will be available both physically and digitally, and all proceeds from the sales will go directly to help Gen triumph over her leukemia.
