First Aid Kit Beautifully Reflects On Past Relationships In New Song “Ruins”

First Aid Kit are gearing up for what appears to be one of the best new albums of 2018, Ruins. Much like the previously released singles from that album, the title track “Ruins” is yet another perfectly-crafted tidbit of folk-tinged indie pop. The song is a arpeggiated ballad reflecting on relationships of the past, as singer Klara Söderberg sings “Ruins all the things we built / Assured that they would last.”

The song is released in the form of a live session, with the Söderberg sisters performing along with their band. Visually, the clip recalls vintage in-studio performances from television variety programs of the 60s and 70s, perfectly accompanying the song’s retro Topanga Canyon-style influences.

Ruins will be released on January 19 via Columbia Records. It has already produced several excellent singles, including “Fireworks,” “Postcard” and “It’s A Shame.”

The band will hit the road in support of Ruins in 2018. The dates feature opening performances by Van Williams. The tour features stops along the West Coast, upper Midwest and Canada. The band will make an appearance at both weekends of Coachella 2018 as well as at Bonnaroo 2018.
