Foals Bassist Leaves Band But They Say They Are Continuing Work On A Fifth Album

Foals, the Oxford band that tore up Panorama 2016, announced today that one of their founding members, bassist Walter Gervers, will be departing from the group. Performing through all four of Foals’ records since 2005, Gervers will amicably leave the band to “pursue new life,” as worded on the group’s Facebook page.

“To all our fans,” they wrote on a handwritten note, “sadly we have to announce that our mate Walter has decided to leave the band… The parting has been sad but we remain firm friends. He’ll always be out brother, we love him and wish him well in his future endeavors. We had 12 amazing years touring together from a small postal van to the Pyramid Stage and beyond. It’s the end of a chapter, but not the end of the book.”

Foals then thanked Gervers for everything he’s done, thanked the fans for their support, and announced that they were still hard at work on their fifth album, which they believe to be their “best yet.” Check out the announcement below, and “keep those ears alive” for that upcoming Foals record.
