Beloved Boston hardcore band American Nightmare (a.k.a. Give Up the Ghost) have been rolling out reunion shows since 2011, but they’ll finally drop some new material in 2018. Following some brief teasing, the band had announced a brand new album, titled American Nightmare.
The self-titled album marks the third full-length from the band, and their first since 2003’s We’re Down ‘Til We’re Underground. Rise Records will issue American Nightmare on February 16.
Of the album, frontman Wes Eisold said, “In making this record we had one goal: To make a hardcore punk album that was true to American Nightmare, who we were then and who we are now. No filler, just existential poetic venom. This is ground zero, a new life for the band.”
Along with the album announcement, American Nightmare released a new lead single to tease the record. Titled “The World Is Blue,” the opener for the band’s eponymous return is, fittingly, a return to their roots, save the without-a-doubt cleaner production. The song also came with a nice lyric video that features various photos of the band live, since their 2011 reunion.
