Remember the days when fans had to wait a year or two for new music to drop from their favorite bands? In today’s “give it to me now” generation, music is shared almost on a daily cycle. For the Aussie psych-rockers with the cool rhyming name, they are switching it around.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have not only released one album this year but four full-length studio albums; Flying Microtonal Banana in February, Murder of the Universe in June, Sketches of Brunswick East in August, and Polygondwanaland in November. All four records came out through ATO.
The psychedelic rock band from Australia made 2017 their own. They have made their goal of making five studio albums in 2017 a reality, and with just a few weeks left before the new year strikes, they will release their fifth album. Hopefully.
Their fifth album and follow up to November’s Polygondwanaland doesn’t have an official title or a due date, but with the year closing fast, the group is running out of time if they want to make their goal happen. Fans had already gotten a glimpse of it when the band released two surprise tracks last week with “Beginner’s Luck” and “All is Known,” Today, they have revealed a new single for fans.
The new track is titled “Greenhouse” which premiered on Triple R 102.7, the Independent Radio Station in the band’s hometown of Melbourne. It is a four-minute grungy song full of swirling riffs and sounds like it could come directly from a Rob Zombie film. In fact, Zombie take notes. This song could start off your next movie.
“Greenhouse” hypnotizes you from the very first note and doesn’t let go until long after its over. The track doesn’t fly all over the place as it should, the simplicity of its dark tones make the song steady and almost pleasant to listen to.
