Walter Schreifels along with his band Quicksand released their first album in 22 years a few months back. His psych-rock project Dead Heavens released their debut album back in July called Whatever Witch You Are. Today, Schreifels and the New York-based project are back again but this time with a music video for their single “Adderall Highway.”
The video for “Adderall Highway” is filmed in a way that makes it stands apart from other music videos of today’s music scene. It is made to appear like it was filmed using the social media app Snapchat. “Adderall Highway” was created with a variety of different Snapchat filters. By this concept, the video immediately draws viewers in with its creative approach.
It won’t surprise me if Snapchat music videos become a thing. Young people are always on their phones playing with the app. Dead Heavens just might have started a new trend. There was already a Snapchat horror movie created not too long ago.
Here’s what Walter Schreifels, the band’s frontman had to say about the track:
“The “Adderall Highway” was an added bonus of our last West Coast tour. Mortis gave us cameras (might have been phones) and told us to bug out, sing the song best we could. Had little idea of what it would ultimately look like but we had a great time doing it and have complete faith in Mortis to come up with something interesting, they did not disappoint as you can see.”
The supergroup is comprised of a collective of hardcore musicians: in addition to Schreifels, Dead Heavens includes guitarist Paul Jostabi (Youth Gone Mad, White Zombie, Psychotica), bassist Nathan Aguilar (Cults), and drummer Drew Thomas (Youth of Today, Bold, Into Another).
