Bright, a new fantasy/crime film starring Will Smith is set to hit Netflix next Friday, December 22nd, 2017, and its soundtrack has picked up a cast of well known artists of its own. Featuring Logic, Bastille, X Ambassadors, Ty Dolla Sign, Future, Migos, Meek Mill, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, Neil Young, alt-J, and many more, today Bright has released its contribution from Portugal. The Man, the Alaskan rock band that just received its first #1 hit single on the Billboard Alternative Songs list, as well as the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, for “Feel It Still.” Just last month, “Feel It Still” was also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
The band was recently under fire from right-wing news source Info Wars, as the video for “Feel It Still” included multiple references that took jabs at the website, but the amount of relevance and success of the song only bolstered the attention given to their latest album Woodstock, released this past June. Now Portugal. The Man has shared its contribution to the Bright soundtrack, “Cheep Up.” The film Bright, which pits officer Will Smith and his Orc partner against a fantasy world full of elves, fairies, centaurs, and the discovery of a magic wand, also features Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Edgar Ramirez, Margaret Cho, and Ike Barinholtz. Out December 22, 2017, you can stream Bright via Netflix and listen to Portugal. The Man’s “Cheer Up” below.
