Inara George has released a music video for “Release Me”. This follows the release of the song about month ago, and the announcement of the artist’s upcoming album.
“Release Me” follows the release of “Young Adult”, which is all a part of Dearest Everybody. The music video was directed by Jeremy Cohen, and expresses a metaphor for struggling with grief as the lyrics talk about the artist’s mother’s closure after the passing of George’s father. The video shows the artist facing the ocean while singing with the microphone and later walking into the ocean with the microphone. The video can be watched below.
According to the press release, the artist describes the video. The artist states “I wanted to make a video for this song that captured the feeling one can have when grief feels completely insurmountable and life pushes you around. So serenading the ocean felt like a good way to capture that feeling. I had this clear idea in my head, and my director, Jeremy Cohen, was able to bring it to life. I feel really proud of this video. It was also one of the harder shoots I’ve ever done. The ocean is no joke. I was getting sand out of my ears for at least a week.”
