Caroline Rose

Caroline Rose, who was a part of the High Water Festival, has announced a upcoming album Loner, which will be released on February 23, 2018 through New West. Along with this, the artist has released a music video for the song “Money”.

The album contains eleven songs. The idea of the album came about around three years ago, after the release of I Will Not Be Afraid. The album is meant to capture Rose’s personality, and is said to be a darkly comedic second album. The songs will be covering topics such as obsession of money, unfaithful lovers, accidental pregnancy, misogyny, loneliness, and death. According to the press release, the artist stated “I needed to get more personal, more aggressive, more humorous and more sonically diverse than my older material. It just felt like a bubble inside me that had been growing and was about to pop.”  The album cover and track list are listed below.

With the collaboration with director Horatio Baltz, the artist released a video for “Money” to which Rose told Noisey that it’s “a sort of manic, paranoid mini-story” about the “way money corrupts and changes people.” The video starts with a character in sports wear running through the field with a bad and then to an motel room, with other characters looking suspiciously. Once the character opens the bag, there is a change in scenery where the character is on the bed enjoying the money that’s spread out. Each character enjoys the money and expresses their happiness as the lyrics say “we did it for the money”. The video can be watched below.
