After controlling the charts for almost the entire year of 2015, New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap has taken a bit of a hiatus as of late. However, it appears he is gearing up for his next takeover with the announcement of his ‘FMF Tour’. Kicking off in January and extending into February, the tour will have Fetty seeing cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago next month.
Fetty Wap is an artist that is based in New Jersey, but influenced by Southern rappers such as Gucci Mane and others. His upbringing, and guidance from his idols, gave him the hustle and drive that earned him much of his success. His self-titled debut album was released back in 2015 and debuted #1 on the Billboard 200. The current tour is to support his follow-up sophomore album King Zoo, which is scheduled to be released later this month via RGF Productions and 300 Entertainment.
In 2015 hits like “Trap Queen” and “679” took the rap game by storm, earning Fetty Wap the ‘Artist to Watch’ award at the MTV Video Music Perhaps most notable of that year was his co-sign from Drake, who turned his already chart-climbing single “My Way” into a red-hot remix ready for the clubs and concerts.
Fetty Wap’s famous, wavy and auto-tuned vocals, have already been Grammy Nominated. Trap instrumentals fused with catchy melodies created a breakthrough sound that helped set him apart from the rest. He describes it as “ignorant R&B”. A label that he formulated, it describes his distinct style of singing mixed with rapping that has inspired many other artists in recent years.
After being nominated for almost every music award in the past two years, he followed with the ‘Welcome to the Zoo Tour’ in 2016. The trek visited over 20 cities, and brought along the now rockstar Post Malone, as well as fellow Remy Boyz affiliate and Monty. However, this time he recruits NexXthursday for his all ages show at the House of Blues next month. If you’re in the mood for a high energy show filled with some of the best hip-hop and R&B hits in recent years, Fetty Wap’s ‘FMF Tour’ is for you.
