Along with their newly released album Songs of Experience, the indeed experienced and renowned band U2 take the stage at the United Center for a pair of shows next May. The ‘eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour’ will serve as a sequel that follows the ‘iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour’ from 2015. The tour was considered one of their best, and was even rated the #1 concert of that year by The New York Times.
Back in 1976 when the band first came to be, going by names such as Feedback and The Hype, they undoubtedly did not expect to become one of the most popular rock & roll bands in the entire world. The collection of musicians conceived the idea for their revolutionary band in Dublin, Ireland. These members who will be seen on tour include Bono (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), The Edge (lead guitar/keyboards/backing), Adam Clayton (bass), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums).
This group of creative visionaries have gone on to release 14 studio-albums, embarked on 16 tours, and have earned countless awards for their work leaving quite the legacy behind them. They have sold more than 170 million records worldwide, which makes them one of the best-selling groups in history.
If you’re wondering what kind of vibes will be at the show, you will need to know that U2 has their own distinct, melodic, and expansive sound. Like most bands, U2 liked to introduce a brand-new element into their music every time they made an album. The Edge’s guitar is often highly processed and reverberated to create a sweeping sonic dreamscape. This, combined with the rock rhythm section backing up Bono’s vocals and The Edge’s guitar, create an overpowering sound that works much better in massive arenas rather than small venues.
