Linkin Park recently hosted a tribute show for the late Chester Bennington on October 28th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA. According to Rolling Stone, the concert featured “a crowd of more than 17,000” singing “the chorus to the music of ‘Numb,'” with Mike Shinoda commenting “I don’t have the words… I don’t think any of us do.”
The three hour show mourned the death of their bandmate, who committed suicide back in July, with guest appearances from Blink-182, Avenged Sevenfold, Takahiro “Taka” Moriuchi (ONE OK ROCK), Deryck Whibley (Sum 41), System of a Down, Jonathan Davis (Korn), Alanis Morissette and video testimonials from Paul McCartney, Jared Leto and Metallica. There was also a large amount of on-stage footage and behind-the-scenes video of Bennington, all available to view in Linkin Park’s new recap video highlighting select moments from the tribute performance, via The PRP.
The band has also recently announced a live album for their final tour with Bennington entitled One More Light, and a revealing interview with producer Rick Rubin, who encouraged them to take the stage once more for a tribute show. “I think about Chester,” Shinoda says in the video, “and I think that guy would have wanted us to have fun.” Watch the recap video of the touching concert below.
