ANOHNI, formerly of Antony and the Johnsons, announced in a since-deleted Instagram post that her most recent performance on November 18th in Aarhus, Denmark would be her last and final show. The announcement follows the singer’s recently creative promotional campaign in which the price for her new song consisted of emailing her “a gesture of anonymous vulnerability.”
According to Pitchfork, a representative for ANOHNI commented that the singer’s performance in Denmark is likely not her final show, as she was simply “taking a break having completed several cycles of projects.” The show in Aarhus marks the end of her time as the Aarhus 2017 Artist-in-Residence, as well as several Future Feminism workshops, but the singer stuck to her now-deleted Instagram post writing: “I keep telling everyone it’s my last show, but no one seems to believe me #ITISFINISHED.” Read mxdwn’s review of her latest EP Paradise, as well as her 2016 breakout record Hopelessness.
