Alice in Chains have announced their first show of 2018. It’s a rarity, as they haven’t performed since October 2016 in Reno, NV, but according to Alternative Nation they will be performing at the Tons of Rock Festival in Norway, accompanying Ozzy Osbourne, Exodus, Helloween, Kvelertak, At The Gates, Marduk, Epica, Alestorm, Skambankt, While She Sleeps, Imperial State Electric, Gaahls Wyrd, Carach Angren, Audrey Horne, Battle Beast, Skeletonwitch, Whoredom Rife, Tusmorke, Sibiir and Foss.
The large lineup and show announcement follows band-member Jerry Cantrell’s update for a possible 2018 album release, revealing to Alternative Nation that the band has been “working all summer on writing some tunes” in Seattle, hoping to “get something together for you guys next year.” When asked about more tour dates, Cantrell responded: “That’s probably part of the whole package. But, again, one step at a time. We can’t go out and do that until we make a great record, in our opinion, and then hopefully a few other people like it too.” Their last piece of new music, a cover of “Tears” by Rush, was released over a year ago. The Tons of Rock Festival in Norway will take place June 20-22, 2018, with varying types of ticket and camping prices available over on the festival’s website.
