Jeff Tweedy and Steve Albini Showcase Their Comedic Chops as Cops in Affordable Care Act PSA

According to the Brooklyn Vegan, Jeff Tweedy and Steve Albini put on a display of their comedic gifts in a public service announcement about the Affordable Care Act. Jeffrey Scot Tweedy is an American songwriter, musician, and record producer best known as the singer and guitarist of the band Wilco. Steve Albini is also an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, audio engineer and music journalist. He was a member of Big Black, Rapeman and Flour, and is a member of Shellac.

Because the Trump administration cut the ACA enrollment window in half and eliminated its advertising budget by 90%, people may not know that the enrollment date closes December 15th. The general message of the independently produced series of ads is that “you don’t have as much time as you think,” encouraging those who already know to get out and enroll while they still can. Tweedy and Albini play cops on a stakeout who spend too much time procrastinating. “Let’s go… after this song,” Tweedy says as Shellac’s 12-minute “Didn’t We Deserve A Look At You The Way You Really Are” comes on the radio. This is just the fourth video in the short series of advertisements. See Tweedy’s and Albini’s enactment below.

Amber Washington: Graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, majored in Media & Professional Communication. I play tennis and am always on the lookout for new music, very grateful for Apple Music. I composed music for a few months in college while living in New York which further sparked my passion for a career in the music industry. Live music is one of my all time favorite things to experience; First Avenue is my favorite venue, might be bias since I was born and raised in Minnesota. Happy ears, happy years.
