Kygo @ United Center (5/5)

The young “tropical house prodigy” who is now so well-known for his collaborations with superstars like Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding, is embarking on his Kids In Love World Tour 2018, bringing along his very special guest Blackbear to perform shows across North America and more.

Kygo (born Kyree Gorvell-Dahll) is a Norwegian producer and DJ who has swiftly become one of EDM’s biggest stars. The young producer earned his first #1 hit in Norway with his remix of Seinabo Sey’s “Younger”. His piano and synth filled remixes of classic songs such as Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” continued to boost the young producer’s distinctive sound and brand.

Kygo’s first original track “Firestone” was released in 2014 and has now earned 40 million plays on Spotify, becoming one of his biggest songs, often used as his finale or encore at live shows. The track was featured on his debut album, Cloud Nine, that was very well received. Soon after his quick rise to fame, the EDM pioneer won the award for best break-through DJ in 2016, and went on to sell-out shows all over the world, headlining tours and festivals alike. He even made history later that year when he became the first house-music producer to perform at an Olympic closing ceremony.

Since he popularized this sound now known as “tropical house”, Kygo has become one of the main faces in EDM. Tropical house, also known as trop-house is a subgenre of deep-house. Trop-house contains elements of electronic house music, as well as elements of dancehall. It often infuses synths and kicks, with guitars, pianos, and flutes. These fundamentals are all found throughout Kygo’s discography, most notably his signature piano chords and melodies. Examples of this unique “kygo-sound” can be heard in some of his hits such as “It Ain’t Me” with Selena Gomez, as well as “Stole the Show”.

Kygo’s long list of hit singles, remixes, as well as his chill electronic vibe, are all coming to the United Center next May to fill the massive stadium with EDM fans. After only recently being announced, tickets are already on sale. Grab them quickly, so that you do not miss your chance to see his relaxing electronic rhythms, flawless percussion, and newest sophomore album Kids in Love, live in Chicago.
