Music fans have been highly anticipating new music from Bjork since the singer-songwriter debuted a new song earlier this year and announced that her latest release, Utopia would be arriving on November 24th, and now fans have been treated to a brand-new music video for the song “Blissing Me.” Directed by Tim Walker and Emma Dalzell, the music video, which was shot in one take, features a single camera focused on Bjork decked out in an elaborate blue costume dancing around a plain, white backdrop.
The camera follows Bjork around as she dances and sways to the music. Makeup designer Hungry did an excellent job this time, giving Bjork an otherworldly look, making her a cross between some type of nymph and a fairy. This along with the direct nature of the camera work provides the song with a look and feel that is unique. The dreamlike quality of the video compliments the music incredibly well. Built upon a series of electronic beats and delicate piano lines, “Blissing Me” is yet another demonstration of Bjork’s power as a vocalist, soaring over the arrangement.
Utopia marks the first release from Bjork since 2015’s Vulnicura and caps off a busy year for the Icelandic singer as she made some strong festival appearances during her recent tour, with her performance at FYF Fest standing out.
